Structured Support When It's Needed

In healthcare, responsibility is shared—and often times, so is concern.

Physicians and health professionals often carry their challenges quietly, focused on patients, teams, and performance instead of focusing inward. At the same time, loved ones, colleagues, or administrators may notice changes: increased stress, withdrawal, signs of burnout, missed details, or other behaviors that feel out of character. Those who work in medicine are not immune to coping by using substances or emotionally retreating to cope with their mental health. Raising concern can sometimes feel just as fraught as experiencing it.

Colleagues, administrators and family members may worry about individual and professional impact, and how to intervene without causing alarm. The individual at the center of it may not yet see a problem—or may see it, but feel uncertain about next steps to take.

These moments are complex. They require care, clarity, and the right kind of support.

If concerns are present, the next step is often to get clarity.

We provide structured monitoring and professional oversight designed

for physicians and licensed health

professionals.

The Health Professionals Approach

The HPP understands that concerns rarely exist in isolation, and is here with the sole purpose to support physicians and health professionals within the broader context of their personal and professional lives—recognizing the roles of families, colleagues, and healthcare systems when questions arise about substance use and mental health.

We provide structured, confidential monitoring and support designed to meet the needs of the physicians and health professionals. This is not treatment or evaluation. It is a framework for accountability, communication, and continuity—one that works alongside clinical care and professional requirements.

Get back to work and who and what you love.

What HPP Offers:
A Trusted, Comprehensive Method

1 | Testing

Testing is an essential part of the Health Professionals Program, helping ensure safe, sustained recovery. By regularly collecting and reviewing third party data—such as daily alcohol monitoring through Soberlink™ and body fluid testing through Affinity™ - adherence to the terms set by licensing boards or privileging bodies is tracked. This process promotes accountability, supports professionals in recovery, and helps maintain the highest standards of care and safety.

2 | Support Groups for Physicians and Licensed Health Professionals

Physicians and Health Professionals often struggle to find a confidential, supportive environment in which they can address personal challenges. Weekly confidential groups are facilitated by a therapist approved by the Medical Board of California. These groups support accountability, professional connection, and sustained recovery while meeting monitoring expectations.

3 | Professional Oversight

Professional oversight is provided to ensure structured accountability and clear documentation for licensing boards, employers, and other designated third parties. As part of physician and health professional monitoring, the Health Professionals Program (HPP) reviews compliance with program requirements, coordinates substance monitoring and recovery monitoring data, and provides status reporting as required.

This process supports physician health and overall professional wellness, reinforces accountability, and helps maintain patient safety and public trust while individuals remain engaged in structured sober monitoring services.
